The Strathcona Regional District oversees operation and management of sanitary sewer, water, solid waste, streetlighting and transit services.
The Strathcona Regional District provides 1,135 water service connections within the rural area of Electoral Area ‘D extending from the Jubilee Parkway to York Road (Northern Electoral Area 'D' Water Service). The majority of these services are for residential properties. The distribution network consists of 29.3 kilometers of water main. There are approximately 110 hydrants, 340 valves and pressure reducing valves at McGimpsey and Storrie Creek. See more
The Strathcona Regional District owns and operates the Quathiaski Cove Sanitary Sewerage System on the west side of Quadra Island at Quathiaski Cove. The system was established in response to a voter approved referendum in 1992/93 and formally established on May 30, 1994 with the passing of Bylaw No. 1588 which outlines collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of sewage for lands within the Local Service Area.
The Strathcona Regional District provides solid waste services to Sayward Valley and Cortes Island residents. Within the Sayward Valley, there is a weekly roadside refuse collection and an annual clean-up service provided three times/year. Cortes Island residents receive weekly roadside refuse and recycling services. See more
Streetlighting services are provided with the Quathiaski Cove area of Quadra Island, and within portions of Electoral Area ‘D’.
Transit services are contracted through the City of Campbell River and routes are limited, within the Regional District, to the area extending from Jubilee Parkway to the Oyster River. See more

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is responsible for all aspects of roads and ditches within the Regional District. The maintenance works for this is subcontracted to Emcon Services Inc.
